All this new technology will eventually give us new feelings that will never completely displace the old ones, leaving everyone feeling quite nervous and split in two. We will travel to Mars even as folks on Earth are still ripping open potato chip bags with their teeth. _David Berman
It is raining today, April flowers bring May showers. Famously how that line goes. Although it is gloomy today, everything everywhere is green and full of life. I can enjoy a bit of gloominess every so often. I do not think, however, I would particularly love to live in Seattle. Apparently it is so gloomy in Seattle you can go a full year without ever seeing Mt. Rainier. How insane. I saw a WNBA player on the Seattle Storm mention this exact phenomenon recently. They had been living in Seattle for months and months and had never even knew that their was a gigantic mountain looming over the city. It was shrouded in mist. Constantly. Even with all the flights taken as a WNBA player, they had never noticed. As is the way of the internet, The WNBA player was immediately clowned online by random people from all over who knew know better. However, in a sign of solidarity, many Seattle residents rushed to defend the player, agreeing that in fact you can go months and months without ever knowing Mt. Rainier was ever even there. I almost moved to Seattle once. I almost have done a lot of things. I enjoy when a sports teams name is apt with the geograpic location they exist within, that or the name has something to do with the specific cities history. The Seattle Storm is pretty good. On the nose yeah. I could think of some more. It's a fun thought exercise. Hm. The Phoenix Suns? Yeah thats good I think. A little basic, but good. Kind of the opposite of Seattle in a lot of ways. The Portland Trailblazers is such a cool name to me. Millions of people taking the Oregon trail and dying horrific deaths, and now, centuries later, the team named after the famous journey can face a fate even worse. Playing 7'6 Victor Wembanyama in the first round of the 2026 playoffs. The Pittsburgh Steelers! Oh what a name. Does not even make since. Steel baby. Are they steel men. The Pittsburgh Steelmen honestly sounds pretty good. 5/6/26
Mt. Rainier, a beautiful beautiful Mountain, I hope to visit it one day
I just learned of Saint Elmo. Saint Elmo. Elmo, or Erasmus, was born in the Roman city of Formiae in Campagna, Southern Italy under the rule of the Roman Emperor Diocletian (r.284-305). Emperor Diocletian mounted some of the fiercest persecutions of the early Christian Church. Elmo became the bishop of Formiae and converted many people to Christianity. He was subsequently arrested, tortured by having his intestines wound onto a winch or capstan and then finally he was beheaded. Due to the circumstances of his death he became known as the Sailor Saint. He is also known for intestinal pain, again, due to the circumstances of his death. Poor man. The idea of being tortured, with no way to get out of it sends chills down my spine. There is a geese song with the same name. I very much enjoy it. There is also a movie of the same name of which I have never watched.
St Elmo's Fire St. Elmo's fire is the electrical weather phenomenon which sometimes appeared on ships at sea during thunderstorms terrifying the superstitious sailors who believed it was an omen of heavenly intervention. Charles Darwin described St. Elmo's Fire as follows: "Everything is in flames, - the sky with lightning, - the water with luminous particles, and even the very masts are pointed with a blue flame." 5/4/26
Would you rather live to be the exact age you wanted.. 300 years.. 500.. etc.. and get to stop aging at whatever point you would most like to stop aging at, or would you rather win the lottery right now (250 million)? Personally, I would choose to live longer. What about yourself?
(Some) of the things I have been enjoying and getting up to this month in no specific order.
Texas you beautiful son of a bitch oh my god. Although I find every season wonderful, spring may truly be my favorite. Every day these past 2 months has pretty much been pristine. 50's-80's and mostly sunny. I have spent much time biking around, spending time out at the Trinity River, and generally taking time to be outside in the city I have called home for many years.
Bike Night!
My sister our friend and I went out for a weekend camping trip at the Wichita Wildlife Refuge Mountains this month. It was my sister and I 5th time taking the trip to this beautifully preserved mountain range in southwest Oklahoma. This was the last major thing I did this month. Man I really do love this place, truly. It is the perfect distance away from my home where it does not feel like to much of a trek to get to while still giving me the seperation and distance I desire when camping. I felt very isolated from DFW which was a calming and reflective feeling, I had been in the metroplex for much to long with out a break. One can only take so many days in a row traversing I30 before they go insane. Also, random, but heading towards the Wichita Wildlife Refuge you pass through many small rural towns, I LOVE these places. They are lost to time. Barely holding on. It is so fascinating to witness. Abandoned buildings and oil refineries. Anyways back to camping. We hiked, scaled a mountain, got sunburnt, saw the elusive and very beautiful North American Bison, ate 5 hot dogs, listened to a horror camping podcast, drew, and visited the Pecan Shed.
Movies
Woah I reallllly enjoyed this movie. I think I was in the perfect headspace to get perfectly down with this. I saw this on a Friday night with my roomate on a complete whim. I learned it was playing maybe an hour before it screened. I saw it at the Modern Art Musuem in Fort Worth! I think if, or when, I rewatch it I may enjoy it less, but on the first go round, knowing nothing of what was about to happen I was so enthralled and into it from the jump. So much dread, anxiety, and hopelessness all occurring at the end of the world literally and physically, as the environment the characters traverse felt incredibly desolate and empty. The soundtrack was . I amazing. Booming club music in the desert. Very rythmic. I did think this movie is substantially more style than substance. I would say very little actually occurs throughout the course of the movie, but I found that to be okay, because this movie has a specific style and aura that it nails from the jump. Also, due to the pacing, whenever something does happen it really makes those moments hit so incredibly hard. Also also also, the main actor reminded me of this old guy I follow on Instagram who eats bread so that was nice.
As I just started this blog, and, am filling in some stuff from the past right now, I do not have any other movies to write of. As of today, the 30th, I saw like 15 movies this month? Something like that. It was a decent movie month. In the direct aftermath of watching some of these movies I may of had more to say, but in this moment, right now, I am to lazy to write about them in depth. The one thing I will mention, the movie The Firm taught me of a suspended train located in Memphis. What the fuck Memphis, I did not know of your sweet ass train game like that. Some of my favs from the month: Rain Man, Heroic Times, The Firm, and In Bruges.

Games
Flyknight
hahahah, this game is sweet. Me and my brother played it in two afternoons. The whole game maybe takes like 3-5 hours and is so fun. It is, in our opinion, just a Dark Souls rip off, but with flys. What is not to love? The story is a bit more explicit than Dark Souls, which I loved, I found myself really invested in these buggers. The surprise boss in the middle of the story broke my heart, and taught me to be less trustful of the hottest bug in the room. What could be better than getting to be a fly, finding mushroom armour, and wacking bugs with a green onion sword? The atmosphere is dark and moody, the graphics are PS2 style, the soundtrack is very immersive, and the gameplay is very rewarding and fun (the first time you kick someone off a bridge you will know what I mean) 10/10 would highly recommend.
Dark Souls 2
I FINALLY PLAYED DARK SOULS. What the fuck is this game what the fuck HA. It gets a reputation for a reason. As someone who is not an avid game player, I have struggled so much in this playthrough, but the leveling up system is very rewarding. I have been playing with my brother and the multiplayer system is so fucking dumb, and I love it for that reason. No multiplayer button, no, instead you must collect Human Effigys, and Bonfire into a players world.. is the person you want to play with to high of a level to bonfire in to? No worries, just go to the French Cat in town and buy a ring, that will help, because why would it not. The games environment, mechanics, music, leveling system, enemies, etc etc etc are all peak. Great time and a great game. I now can die knowing I played one of these games once. 10/10
Straftat
This game absolutely rips what the fuck. PS2 style graphics, extremely fast first person online shooter gameplay, and never ending map options and weapons. The type of game that reminds me of being 14 with my friends. LOVE LOVE LOVE. The music is straight England Jungle style. Everything about this game is so dumb and awesome and amazing. Oh yeah, its fucking FREE. 10/10
Peak
I played this game so much with friends. What a great party game. It is challenging at first, but easy once you get the hang of it. Each biome brings diverse problems, which of course I loved. Hard to not enjoy such a fun game 8/10.
